Hello Karen,
During my pregnancy, I was told that my son head was measuring small from an ultrasound. I followed up with a maternal-fetal specialist during pregnancy who performed a 2nd ultrasound. The maternal-fetal specialist reported that my son head was small but he could “count the skin of his forehead” which made the size of his head normal. He reported that the baby could just a have small head because my head is small.
After 6 months of birth, his pediatrician diagnosed him with microcephaly from his head measurements. My son had a brain MRI at 6 months which showed normal functions of the brain. His pediatrician and 2 neurologist has not given me a clear answer on what might have caused his microcephaly, treatment and if it is related to autism. I am seeking a doctor who specialized in microcephaly. In your practice is it common to see microcephaly and autism diagnosis together?
Thanks
